Switched to German
2006-02-04 | 06:52 PM Filed in: About this
blog
Originally this blog was designed to be in english.
Because my blog shouldn't be focused only on the people
who live around here, but also addresses visitors from
other countries. Many foreign people visit Stuttgart.
Not only tourists, but business workers as well. After
a hard working day they might want to know about all
the great places to go for lunch, dinner, or drinks.
Anyway, recently people started to persuade me to switch to German, because it would emphasise on my main focus group - the people of Stuttgart.
Ok, here's what I do. I will switch to German for now and you will tell me whether you like it or not. If you think my blog is much better to be written in German or if you don't, please drop me a comment or contact me via email.
Maybe we will have both versions in parallel later. Let's see how it's gonna work out.
So long,
Patrick

Marinated Tuna Steaks

This is one of the more simple recipe that uses only a
few minutes to prepare.
For the marinade just take a few herbs (I took basil, chervil, garlic and chili), add olive oil and a twist of fresh pressed lemon juice, and mix it up in a food processor. Season it to taste with salt and pepper.
Cover both sides of the tuna with the marinade. Grill the tuna in a very hot pen (you don't need to add extra oil - the marinade does it well) from both sides (just one minute for each side).
Cover the pan and remove it from the hot plate. Wait for another ten minutes and your steaks are well done.
For aside I recommend either fries or rice, and a field salad with cherry tomatos and a simple dressing consisting of olive oil, white wine vinegar, salt, and pepper.

One bucket of meat, please!

The Schmidt-Stübl is the best place to
have steaks that I know. Next to their recommended
portions of steaks (200, 250, or 300 grams) you
can order your favorite steak just by giving the
amount of meat you want to face with. My very good
friend Oliver, who took me there, ordered a 700g
steak (I was disappointed that he didn’t take that
1kg monster). With every steak dish they serve the
best mixed salad I’ve ever had in a restaurant.
It’s very fresh and really fondly prepared. The
salad comes with self made bread and several very
delicious dip-sauces - also self made I guess. It
was really one of the best meals I’ve ever had in
a restaurant - my complements!

Quality of food: high
Gusto of food: awesome

Healthy fast food

My favorite fast food restaurant in Stuttgart is the
GIO Asia Gourmet-Imbiss. The very
friendly owners and the big amount of cooks and
waitresses serve delicious food varying from
typical Thai food to all kinds of Asian dishes.
The quality of the food is very good for the low
price. It’s fresh made and often more than enough
to feed you up for the rest of the day. Next to
the good priced fast food the menu covers higher
priced and elaborated dishes for the demanding
customer. I don’t know if the food is really
original. I guess the recipes are modified a
little bit for the average European. But the food
tastes great, anyway. I always enjoy the Thai food
very much.

Quality of food: good

Why this blog?

Due to the lack of spare time in my life I do not get
around to cook very often. So I go out for lunch or
dinner quite frequently. When I was new to Stuttgart I
found it hard to figure out which restaurants have
really good food. I mean not only just tasteful food,
but food that is really worth eating (and paying for).
At this site I recommend you all the great places that offer the most delicious food in town. As well I report about the places that should be punished for their bad food. I hope you'll enjoy it.
Please keep commenting the reviews.
Cheers,
Patrick
